Typically, this is caused by: 

• A build up of dirt or dust 
• Insufficient lubrication in the locking mechanism
• A misalignment with the door, due to shifting over time (causing a pressure build-up in the lock) 

So, in many cases, the issue can be fixed by applying a silicone-based lubricant to the door’s lock, hinges and moving parts.

If adding lubrication doesn’t fix the problem, then enlist a professional to adjust the hinges and see if this resolves the issue.

Draughts around the door

These doors are specifically designed to ensure the highest standards of insulation. So, if you notice draughts around the door, then this is a clear indicator of a problem. 

Typically, this means that there is an issue with the frame’s sealing.

The most common causes of this issue are: 

• Worn weather seals 
• Compressed seals (causing a loss of flexibility)

Most commonly, this is due to the door’s alignment having shifted.

This isn’t an uncommon occurrence with doors like these, and it can happen as a result of temperature changes (causing expansion and contraction), or general resettlement of the property. 

Thankfully, this is a straightforward fix. In some cases (usually with modern hinges) these can be achieved with DIY adjustments. But, if more significant corrections are needed, then you can enlist a professional to complete these for you quickly and easily. 

Worn seals

Common signs that your seals have worn or failed include:

• Increased draughts
• Whistling noises (especially during high winds)
• Water ingress
• Reduced insulation 

If required, your seals can be replaced with very little associated costs.  

Condensation around the glass

If condensation occurs occasionally on the outside of the glazing (especially during colder weather), this is a result of the glazing performing as expected. 

However, if condensation appears in between the glass panes, then this could be an indicator of a failed glazing unit. In this instance, the glazing unit itself may need replacing. But, it’s very rare for glazing units to fail, especially in modern composite doors.
